travel and rhum

I noticed when I hike and i look at objects. I start seeing things start to “breathe” like a hallucinogen trip. For example if I look far at a mountain range it looks as if it’s getting closer and going back to its normal distance in a loop. And when I used the bathroom at the trail parking lot after I finished hiking I looked at the wall it started to have the same effect. Anyone else? No other symptoms to accompany

My dad is 65 and still loves hiking in the desert with no cell signal. He's in pretty good health but usually alone I want him to have some kind of SOS device in case something happens.

He's always in areas he knows and has never been lost.

He usually only does day trips.

I was looking at the garmin inreach but I don't want to burden him with a monthly subscription (fixed income, tight finances) and he wouldn't be comfortable with us paying that for him. He also doesn't need to text we just want the emergency feature.

Is there something that might work better for just the SOS feature?

I want to Hike some places there are not known as a officiel hiking trail…you know for example Hike from Bergamo to Turin?

Anyone have experience with things like that? Just fly to a city and then just walk to a other city 200 km away or something? Is it stupid or?
