Where should I travel this year?

Where should I travel this year?

I’ve spent the last few summers hiking around the United States, and have popped up to Canada.

I’d love to make plans to travel somewhere international this year. I love backpacking and strenuous hikes/peak bagging. I also love shorter bang for your buck hikes.

Long distance backpacking has always been a dream of mine. I have definitely dreamed of the Tour Du Mont Blanc – but have heard it’s crowded/busy.

Norway, Italy, Switzerland and New Zealand have all been on my bucket list. Would love to do a hut to hut.

Where is somewhere you have been or a hike you have done that you would tell ANYONE they should do?

A couple hikes I would recommend to someone else are Cracker Lake in Glacier, Panorama Ridge in Canada, Sahale Arm in Washington.

Happy Hiking! ❤️

Hut to hut with easier access option

Hut to hut with easier access option

Looking for suggestions for a hut-to-hut route that is on the easier end for a trip coming up in July of this year. I'm an experienced hiker but last year managed to obliterate my ankle and ended up having a load of metal put in. I'm still experiencing a significant amount of pain and whilst I'm optimistic I will be pain-free in 6 months time, I'd like to plan something that at least has an easier option just in case. Ideally within a 4 hour drive from Zurich. TIA!

Won the lottery for a permit to hike The Wave!!! What shoes would be best to wear?

Won the lottery for a permit to hike The Wave!!! What shoes would be best to wear?

Hello all! I won a permit to hike The Wave in April!!! It's been my dream to go since I was little, so I was shaking and crying when I got the email on New Years.
I'm not that much of an experienced hiker, so I am trying to gain all of the knowledge I can to start training for my excursion. I'll be going by myself, so I intend on hiring a guide to go with me. My main question are about shoes. What kind would be best to wear?
Boots, sneakers, sandals? I know it's very sandy, but pretty flat from what I have gathered. I've only ever hiked in Teva sandals before. Any suggestions about brands or anything as well would be great! I don't know if gender/size matters when it comes to the shoe but I'm female and wear a size 5.

How do you start « hiking »?

How do you start « hiking »?

So my girlfriend and I would really love to do more outdoors adventures, hiking vacations, that kind of thing. We see the reels all the time and would like to do stuff like that ourselves. We love to go outside, on vacations we have been, we often go on hikes that take like a day, but how do you actually go on multi day hikes? How do you start? What do you need? How do you plan your route?

I'm sorry if this is a repetitive question, but it seems a bit overwhelming to do all at once. Thanks for any insights!
