travel and rhum

I’m a new hiker and do pretty mild hikes. I’m a shoe size 6 woman in need of hiking boots, hopefully not too expensive.

Does anyone have any advice or specific shoes they like?

I’ve heard there are sections of the PCT where you’ll hike mountains, go through desert, and end up on the beach in one day. And I know at least one part of the AT has a freshwater beach surrounded by mountains (southern portion of the AT). What are some trails where you can hike mountains and end up on a beach, preferably saltwater, in the same day?

So I’ve only really been hiking small stuff locally but this summer I’m planning a weekend trip to the Catskill State Park to hit some trails there.

So I’d like some ideas on what kind of supplies I should take with me on the hikes.
