Grand Junction, CO vs Moab, UT. Advice needed!

Grand Junction, CO vs Moab, UT. Advice needed!

I and a large group of friends (10 people total) are planning a trip to the Grand Junction or Moab areas in late May for a week. We are mostly a hiking group, so nature activities are the bulk of what we do, but we will visit cities and other things like that during trips as well. The hiking in Moab looks really good, and we definitely wouldn't run out of nature activities to do there. Grand Junction is still pretty but, on the surface, seems a little less appealing nature-wise.

Our main issue is this: Finding Airbnbs that suit our needs in Moab is much harder than in Grand Junction. Grand Junction has a plethora of great Airbnb options for more reasonable prices (looking for something under $4000). On the other hand, Moab has options, but the quality at the same price suffers greatly.

So, my question for everyone is, which would you prefer and why? None of us have ever been to that part of the country, so were looking for any advice that you could give us. Maybe we missed something in Grand Junction, or there's a reason we should avoid Moab? Thanks!

Midwest hiking suggestions?

Midwest hiking suggestions?

My wife and I are planning our spring break hike and we are looking for some neat places to check out. Trying to drive within like 7-8 hours near Grand Rapids Michigan. Currently looking at starved rock area. Not sure if that’s what this sub is for but looks like you guys know some cool places!

Best cheap hiking boots?

Best cheap hiking boots?

I live in a sandy desert area and most hikes involve some amount of deep sand. Having had my last two pairs of quality boots ruined by sand getting into them and under the sole so they are lumpy underfoot (I have even tried slashing the footbed inside the boots to let them sand out, which still didn't help), I have concluded that I am better to get a cheaper pair of boots at the start of each hiking season and throw them out after. My current boots were $200, I'm looking for something preferably $50 or under that will work in the short term. Any suggestions?

3800 km hike from Alaska, Wales to Washington, Seattle

3800 km hike from Alaska, Wales to Washington, Seattle

Hello there! I'm excited to share that I'll be going on an epic adventure from Alaska, Wales to Washington, Seattle, covering a distance of 3800 km. This hike is undoubtedly the most challenging and longest one I've ever attempted. It will take me around 3 to 6 months to complete. Over the next few years, I plan to dedicate myself physically and mentally to prepare for this incredible journey. Also, I will find like-minded individuals to join me in this endeavor. I could really use some assistance in terms of getting my equipment in order and gathering general tips to avoid encounters with bears and wolves, while also ensuring my own safety. Are there any particular books you would recommend for this? Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
