Where to live if you love hiking but also civilization? (USA)

Where should I live if I want hike, preferably in lush, green mountains, but I also have a taste for the city hustle and bustle. I don’t mind a small commute to some larger mountains, but being able to hop outside and find a nice trail during weekdays would be ideal.

One of my favorite more local hikes, Pleasant Mountain, Bridgton, Maine. I am blind in one eye due to a brain tumor, so even though this is only 2,003 feet it still feels like a win!
