travel and rhum

I won a college competition and the prize was a $150 gift voucher to the mall. I would like to spend it on hiking gear, so what are the essentials I should I get? I spend my time between dubai (hot, dry, never rains, super sunny at least 95F/35C every day) and uk (temperate climate, all four seasons, wet)

Not planning any overnight camping. Just day or weekend hikes. I used to do day hikes with my friends in adidas sneakers and regular sports clothes lol so I need basics, but also don’t wanna spend this $150 on like socks etc

Was considering a hiking bag, and maybe either base layers or some sort of jacket?
