If you could spend the summer hiking anywhere in North America, where would you go?

If you could spend the summer hiking anywhere in North America, where would you go?

My girlfriend and I are very fortunate in that we can both work remotely from anywhere with an internet connection. In 2022 we spent the summer in Oregon, Idaho, and Washington (about 6 months total) and then in 2023 we went to the Alps for 3 months. Our primary goal is to hike & camp as much as we can and generally be outdoors in the mountains. During the weekdays we have to work, but look for small hikes in the afternoon/evenings and longer trips on the weekends.

We're trying to figure out where to go this summer. The current frontrunner is Montana and Alberta/BC for Glacier, Baff, and Jasper. We'd probably hit Tetons and Yellowstone on the way there, but it seems to difficult/expensive to stay there for longer than a week or two. So we're looking at staying near Whitefish in Montana for 6 weeks or so, and then maybe Golden, Canmore, or Calgary for another 6 weeks.

Does anyone have any other recommendations? Is 6 weeks too much in those locations? Where would you stay near Banff/Jasper? I know that at these locations & altitudes, we can really only expect snow-free conditions from mid-June til mid-September with July & August being the best months.

Open to any sort of feedback/suggestions from the community! Thank you!

Five days in Sedona coming this March, worth driving up to the Grand Canyon for one day?

Five days in Sedona coming this March, worth driving up to the Grand Canyon for one day?

We’ll be in Sedona late March flying in Wednesday and leaving Sunday. Never been before and plan on doing a lot of hiking. We are also considering driving up to the Grand Canyon and hiking it for a day as we’ve never been there either. Would you recommend it or just stay in Sedona?

Trail running shoes instead of real hiking ones ?

Trail running shoes instead of real hiking ones ?

Hi guys

Do you think trail running shoes do the job for hiking instead of real hiking shoes ?

I do mainly hiking in all kind of weather and surfaces, and I am looking for comfort during these days.

I was hesitating with Salomon Speedcross trail running shoes because they are currently cheaper at my local city store.

But afraid they might be not as comfy as real hiking ones

Thanks
