Snow Hike first time

Hi guys. I have some experience in Hiking and I'd really like to have a snowy hike this winter. I don't really know how to organize it though.

As it would be my first time, I thought of spending the night in a hat and not in a tent because it might be too demanding the first time to sleep on the snow, I don't even know if it is possible but I guess it is considering that people who climb everest for example sleep in super harsh conditions.

So my doubts are regarded to what to wear and how to organize my stuff, also how do I know where is the path? My wish would be to follow some paths that already exists when they are covered by snow, the thing is that many paths of course aren't visible because of the snow, how can I know where to go then?

Any tip and recommendation would be greatly accepted. I wouldn't be alone it would be three of us doing it, all three with some experience. Thank you all!
