Got a great hike in yesterday before the trails close up for the winter, at least to hikers. It will likely be snowshoes from here on out til June at least. We had great weather but a very icy trail. Microspikes were very helpful :-) Hannegan Pass, Mt Baker, WA State, US

I hate rock scrambling, what can I do?
Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I’m looking for ways to assess how “dangerous” a rock scrambling portion of a hike is beforehand. I enjoy hiking, or at least I thought I did when I thought it just involved trekking uphill for extended periods of time & great vistas. Unfortunately my boyfriend has started taking me on “more difficult hikes” and they all include portions where I have to essentially climb part of a mountain or run across angled rocks or carefully step to ensure I don’t fall into various deep holes/other jagged rocks directly underneath. He doesn’t get why I hate it and will refer to strenuous higher altitude hikes I’ve done in the past, but they’re not comparable at all to me. I don’t know how to explain to him why scrambling is scary, maybe I’m just the weird one here? Regardless, I don’t enjoy it and am looking for ways to avoid these hikes, but are there different difficulty levels of scrambling I can look up ahead of time anywhere? All hikes have a little bit of it, so how can I tell when it’s something I’ll be able to handle or not?
Get out there for sunrise I thought. Beat the crowds I thought. Be colder than I’ve ever been…didn’t think about that. On the way Marlette Lake near Lake Tahoe, CA

Extra Thick Winter Socks

Extra Thick Winter Socks
Hello all,
I am looking for recommendations for the best, thickest, warmest socks ever. I am willing to pay extra. Sure I like hiking, but mainly, I live in a very, very cold house and this winter is about to be brutal if I don't buy some very good socks. I have been very disappointed in socks in the past that claim to be very warm and they're pretty thin and end up ripping easily. If I can get them off Amazon, that would be even better.
Thanks!
From my recent trek in Himanchal Pradesh, India.
