Do I need fleece lined trousers for winter hiking? (Ben Nevis -1c)

Do I need fleece lined trousers for winter hiking? (Ben Nevis -1c)
I usually warm up very quickly but I have never done a winter hike with the potential for it to get very cold. So I just want to make sure I'm prepared
EDIT: thanks everyone for the info much appreciated 👍
Hiking Boots that don’t wear down easily? (UK)

Hiking Boots that don’t wear down easily? (UK)
Hi, I hike often and usually go through a lot of nettles and mucky conditions. I typically ascend 1,500 feet over 5 miles.
My current hiking shoes are Solomon but they have worn away quickly over a few years. They have often got dirt or stones in them when I am walking which hurts.
I then had an incident about a week ago where I was running down an incline lane that was slippy and slid. My knee is still healing.
This is not the first time I slid on these boots. A few times I have nearly dislocated my ankle on small unclear mounds of ground or rocks that were covered by muck.
What sort of boots should I be looking for to limit slipping and reduce the likelihood of the materials wearing down quickly?

Had to find easier trails now that I’m pregnant. But beautiful none the less (somewhere on Vancouver island)

Hi All,
It’s getting cold where I’m at now. I’m need of some new Thermals, or base layer and some new gloves.
Anything you love? I used to just wear the Fruit of the Look thermal sets, but don’t know if there’s better options. I do hike with poles often, so a glove that isn’t bulky as hell.

How to go out solo, for the first time?

How to go out solo, for the first time?
I've been on a couple of hikes but always with friends and always with someone who knew what to do, and where to go. I don't want to always rely on someone. My buddy suggested AllTrail app. I have looked at a couple easy trails but am still nervous/anxious to go solo for the first time. Any tips or tricks for first timers or anyway to help curve the nerves besides "just doing it"?
Can we start an r/hiking wiki?

Can we start an r/hiking wiki?
First off, this sub is pretty awesome and I've seen very little if anyone being shitty to each other, which is a little rare on reddit.
This sub would really benefit from having a wiki. Topics such as how to start, what you need, footwear, etc to start. This would hopefully help eliminate a lot of the "What kind of shoes/boots do I need" posts (mods its going to help you too). It could also be expanded into National park or popular hike info. We could have writers on a bunch of different topics, so you get the most "expert" info on a topic.
