Serious Question: Do you get burned out on hiking the same local trails over and over?

I live in an area with a decent amount of trails. I keep my radius for driving within 2 hours for my day hikes (often travel further but that is more of a “whole day” type of trip) and it affords me somewhat varied terrain and ecosystems. However, recently I’ve been sluggish to go and hike these same places. I have a few short trips planned for the near future further away that I am looking forward to, and my love and interest in hiking is as strong as ever…maybe I’m just getting old and lazy?

What do you all do to keep from getting bored of your local trails?

Guy I have been seeing just told me story about abandoning ex on a tough hike so he could complete the hike to the top. Red flag?

Been seeing this guy for a couple weeks now. Tonight we get to talking about going on a hike and start telling each other hiking stories. He proceeds to tell me about a time he went on a hike with a previous boyfriend where they got about halfway through the climb and the boyfriend couldn’t continue so he told him to wait there while he (the guy I’m currently seeing) finished the climb. He said he got back to the spot they split at and the ex wasn’t there. The guy I’m seeing got back to the car after 3.5 hours and his ex was furious and they broke up after it.

Should I be concerned about this guy? Huge red flag??

Edit: we are gay, sorry to be confusing with all of the “he/him” usages. Also, really confused why he told me this story when we were talking about beautiful National Parks. The story didn’t even sound like it took place in one.
