Today I updated my satellite messenger to a new device and that made me revisit why I would use the SOS function. There's one place I go regularly that I notify a friend and check in before and after so she knows I'm safe due to an unprotected cliffy section. Pretty sure the spot would require a heli evac if I fell. Years ago I had to hobble 10 miles to help after an severe ankle sprain. I would do that again now and not ask for rescue. Before that my adventures allowed for no help until days or weeks of reported of being missing.

So, just curious what is your threshold or end point for you to activate your satellite SOS?

I’m always freaking out if anyone’s gonna jump out off the bushes and drag me back into them.
